5 Key Things To Make 2018 YOUR Year!

Happy New Year everybody!

Is anyone else kind of glad 2017 is over? Just me? Okay. It has definitely been a crazy year for me full of high highs and low lows, but I wanted to share 5 key ways to make 2018 YOUR year. 

 

1. PLAN OUT YOUR GOALS

Let's be real for a sec. How many times have you thought about your goals and resolutions, but by the end of January are back to your old habits? Yeah. A lot of us can relate.

Thinking about your goals is a start, but going the extra mile to plan, write, and execute them is what makes a world of a difference. You don't need anything fancy to do this. Just grab your favorite notebook/ agenda/ whatever it may be, and write your short term and long term goals. Bonus points if you keep it in a place where you can see it often.​

 

 

2. JUST DO IT ALREADY

Whatever it is that you've been wanting to do, just do it already. Stop making excuses for yourself. If you aren't going to do it now, chances are you never will.

 

For example, I wanted to try out YouTube because I was curious about it. I learned the basics of editing, turned on my MacBook Air webcam, and just went for it. Couple years later, I am so glad I took the first (and hardest) step of just starting. If you truly make it a priority, you'll be amazed at what could happen. Same goes for this website/ blog.

 

 

3. LET IT GO

We've hoarded so many items without even realizing it, but it's time to let it go. That one trendy piece you bought and hated, all the shoes and clothes you don't wear, and the random knick knacks. Seriously. Let. It. Go. My rule of thumb is: If you haven't worn or used it the past year, it's time to donate. I'm not saying to go minimalist, but we all have those items that we don't want to throw away because "what if we need it".  (Spoiler Alert: You 99.9% wont.)

It's also extremely important to let things go mentally as well. The subconscious grudges that weigh you down, the unhealthy relationships with "friends", etc.

 

4. TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH AND WEALTH

Yep. Here I go again with budget/ money talks. Unfortunately it's a skill that you have to teach yourself. Luckily for you there's this cool thing called the internet, where you can learn the basics of money management. Make it a goal to save/ invest/ donate X amount this year.

 

It is also equally important to take care of your health. Make it a priority to get your sweat on 2-3 times a week to start, and watch it slowly integrate into your every day routine. If you stress out a lot like me, meditating is another skill you can develop in the new year.  I've been using Headspace for the past month and have noticed a huge difference in my overall mood and perspective.

 

5. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

A lot of times, we have an idea but rarely execute it because it's not what everyone else is doing, or we have our fears and doubts, etc. But think about it, if you don't believe in yourself, who will?

 

I have gotten so much criticism from family and other people regarding YouTube (and soon to be this website), but it's honestly what I love doing. I just keep doing me, and I couldn't be happier.

 

 

 

Of course I could go on and on with each of these topics, but we'll keep it nice and short for now.
