I Finally Got TADs! Braces Update #5

DISCLAIMER: Thank you to Updike Orthodontics and Honest Oral Surgeon for sponsoring my braces journey! All opinions are my own.

How is time flying by so quickly this year?? So much has happened lately, from moving to getting TADs (aka mini screws) inserted into my jaw bone! Brace yourself, lots of photos below. (No pun intended).

I recently filmed a video here sharing my experience from the day of the procedure and a week after follow up. Shoutout to Dr. Kim at Honest Oral Surgeon for making the process so effortless and procedure as painless as possible. Seriously, if you're in the Orange County, CA area, I highly recommend him for any of your dental needs. You can watch that video and learn more by clicking below.

These were taken on the day prior to my TADs appointment. If you want to see what the TADs look like, watch the video above.

So much gumminess in my smile, the gaps between my K9 and front teeth are huge too.

This bottom photo is SUPER embarrassing for me...but I'm showing it anyway because it really shows how gummy my smile really was before TADs. This is when I smile as big as I can.

I recently had my braces tightened at the end of April 2019 (making it a little over one month with TADs), and wanted to share some update photos.

I still have pretty large gaps, but I can tell they are slowly closing as each month goes on. My front teeth are slowly moving upwards as well, minimizing the gumminess in my smile.

My left side was slightly lower than my right side (or your right if you're looking straight at the photo), so

Dr. Updike activated the rubber bands more this time around.

My bottom teeth are 95% straight with the gaps all closed. The back molars are taking the longest to move since they're larger. There are tiny gaps in that back area, but they're slowly but surely closing.

After one month of having TADs and having the rubber bands activating them, I'm getting used to the pressure and can tell my teeth are shifting up and back at the same time.

That's all for this braces update! Do you see a difference since I had TADs placed in my mouth? Let me know if you have any additional questions and I'd be happy to answer them.
