Hey there! It's been a while since I shared a braces update, and A LOT has changed so I figured today would be perfect to share what's been going on.
First thing's first, I GOT FOUR TEETH EXTRACTED. Yikes! It was one of the most horrifying dental experiences aside from my wisdom teeth extractions, and that was mostly because of my dentist himself. I was awake during the entire process, and I'm just going to stop there because I don't want to relive that experience.
The first few days after the extraction were the worst, because it was so sensitive and tricky to eat anything. I was on a soft food diet (again), and it was impossible to not get anything in the extraction sites. Tylenol was my best friend to help with the pain, and eventually I started introducing foods into my diet.
About a week and a half later, I had an orthodontist appointment at Updike Orthodontics, and finally had my ties and wire changed! I also did an update video on my YouTube channel, so you can watch the video below to get more details about how that appointment went!
Even though it's been two weeks since my extractions, food still gets stuck from time to time in the lower extraction sites (super annoying), but because there is a lace wire around those areas, hopefully the gaps will be closed very soon.
In the meantime, I wanted to share some photos that I had taken mid-April, compared to some photos I took today (May 9th). IT'S SUCH A CRAZY DIFFERENCE! I did not think my bottom teeth were going to straighten out that quickly!
(You can see the gaps on the bottom where my teeth were extracted)
It's very exciting to see the progress so soon, but one thing I'm concerned about now is if my top teeth are going to get gummier. My orthodontist had warned me that after getting the teeth extracted, when the wire connects the remaining teeth, this may cause my smile to show a little more gums, so it's just a matter of time. I'm hoping it doesn't because now after staring at my teeth for a while, I never realized how much of a gummy smile I had LOL.
If you read my last post about my braces, I mentioned that I am most likely going to get screws later on in my mouth to reduce the gums that show on my top teeth. Sooo who knows, maybe the next braces update will share that experience (even though it sounds terrifying as well)!
That's all I have for you today, thank you so much for stopping by! Let me know what you think of the progress so far in the comments below!
