Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share 7 tips to help you live a healthier lifestyle. I use every single one of these, and have noticed a difference overall in my life, so let's get started!
1. Why Do You Want To Be Healthy?
This is the first question you should ask yourself before you change any part of your lifestyle. It's important to know your motivation in making a lifestyle change. Make sure it's for the right reasons that will have a long term success rate, instead of short term.
2. Be Mindful and Aware
This is a simple tip to implement into your life. We are often on autopilot mode, and do things mindlessly because we've conditioned ourselves to do them in that way. Making the effort to really pay attention to what you're doing or putting into your body makes a huge difference.
3. Stay Hydrated
Did you know you're supposed to have 2 liters of water every day? That's 8 eight-ounce cups of water! Chances are most of us aren't drinking that much water. A little trick I like to use to drink more water is to infuse it with lemon and cucumbers! You can get really creative and make tasty infused water using fruits and veggies! 4. Get That Heart Pumpin!
It's suggested that you should get your heart rate up at least 30 minutes per day. Of course in a perfect world we'd all be doing that, but the point is to implement exercise into your life, even if its 3-4 times a week! Find a method of exercise that excites you, and do it!
5. More Fruits and Veggies, Less Processed Foods
Processed foods are simply any food that has been altered in the process (boxed mac n' cheese, potato chips, etc.) When I think of "less processed foods", it's usually towards meats like bacon, hot dogs, ham, etc. The point is to be more mindful of what you're eating. 6. Everything In Moderation
This is another simple tip to implement into your daily life. I'm a believer in eating in moderation, not cutting out everything that is horrible from your life...that just sounds like a horrible way to live in my opinion. Nowadays, there are healthier alternatives that you can consume, but if you've been eating pretty clean and working out, treat yourself to some damn fries!
7. Take Care of Your Mental Health
Mental health is a topic that has been making its way to mainstream media, which is great! We need to talk about it more. We all have our own demons, and learning how to effectively deal with them is so important. Two ways that have helped me significantly is journaling and meditating. Journaling is my way of just talking about anything and everything, good and bad, with no judgement. Meditating helps me stay calm and collected when stressful situations arise (which could be often since I stress about being stressed, yknow?) Headspace is a great app that I've been using to meditate. Finding an outlet that helps you have a clearer and happier state of mind could make all the difference.
